Lawn
treatments that change the lawn forever! |

A summer lawn
treatment is applied in a liquid form so as not
to scorch the grass, this is absorbed quickly
into the foliage and roots and the grass will
show a difference within a few days.
One off treatments or yearly programs are
available to suit both your lawn and your
budget, call us today for the start of a
beautiful lawn!
Pictured below is what happens when we scarify a
lawn to remove all the moss, this looks drastic
but its like giving your hair a good comb, it
revitalises the grass and takes out all the
dead.

First you must plan what you are going to
do, how long this is going to take and what
products from the garden centre you are
going to need?
First step - Overall feed
Using a slow release fertilizer (granular)
spread to the manufactures amounts all over
your lawn. This will give everything a
boost, even the weeds but don't worry, its
all part of the plan.
Second step - Selective weed killer
Using
a selective weed killer (soluble), spread
over the lawn to the manufactures amounts.
This will remove all the weeds and leave the
grass alone.
Please ensure the box does say
"Selective" weed killer. If its
not a selective, your grass will die with
the weeds!
Third step - Moss Kill
Using a moss killer like Ferrous (Iron)
Sulphate spread this over the whole lawn
area. Within just three hours you will see
the signs of the grass and moss going black.
Don't worry if the grass does go black, this
treatment gives the grass a tonic!
Fo urth
step - Scarify (if required)
If there is lots of moss, the lawn will need
to be scarified. Scarify machines can be
hired from hire shops as its much easier
than raking with a grass rake. If there is
not much dead moss at all, regular mowing
will eventually lift it out.
Fifth step - Further treatments
Further treatments of slow release
fertilizer will be required. We normally do
this on a monthly basis for our customers,
but quarterly would be fine to keep the lawn
well fed and growing strongly.
One last part to consider.
If
you are to treat your lawn on a regular
basis, how about a scotts rotary spreader?
This is not a professional one as the volume
of granules it carry's is much less, but
they work very well and the coverage is
even.
If you
get stuck you may email us for advice and we
will respond with 12 hours.

Simply Gardening
Tips The
best mowing height for the summer!

Did you know that lawns
should be mowed between 25 and 30mm (1 to 1.5inches) in the summer? This
will encourage the grass to become thick and lush with a much better colour
than if its too short!
Also, if
the lawn is long the grass shouldn't be cut any more than one third of its
length, otherwise it can be damager!
