    John's family history

Henry Knight 1867 - 1955

Henry Knight was johns great grandfather and designed gardens in East Yorkshire, Kent and the South of France.

Henrys work in the garden is unknown to me but I would love to, one day see something he designed and built. Pictured below is Henry and my mother's sister "Jean Hubbard" and Pip the dog in his garden in Withernsea near Hull, where he finally retired.

Fred Woodhouse 1898 - 1979

Fred who was my grandfather lived in Hull all his life and was an avid gardener as well as head of the allotments society and prize grower of Chrysanthemums.

Fred pictured above receiving a prize for his flowers even later on in his life.

Pat Cavill 1933 - 1999

Pat was my mother and was also an avid gardener with a degree in Horticulture gained at Bishop Burton. Pat also ran the allotment society in Hull plus market gardens before moving to Barton where she was always out in the garden doing something!

If Pat was still alive today, she would without a doubt be out gardening with me and advising on the best way to grow everything.

Harry Cavill - 1932 to present day!

Harry is my father and also an expert gardener. His Strawberries and Tomatoes are grown in abundance each year and are legendary in taste. harry used to grow prize Dahlias and has been helping immensely with my dahlia beds in customers gardens each year.

Harry answers the phone to most of my customers and is great for gardening advice should you need any!
